NCIS: Hawai’i Cancelled By CBS After Only Three Seasons

The final hammer has dropped for NCIS: Hawai’i. After weeks of waiting to see whether or not the show would be picked up for Season 4, the CBS network has canceled the drama, opting out of including it in its 2024-2025 primetime schedule lineup.

While fans could feel it coming, the decision to ax the drama is stunning, to say the least. After all, the show, starring Vanessa Lachey and LL Cool J, averaged approximately 7.8 million viewers this season when it comes to Nielsen’s seven-day linear ratings. It may end up being the most-watched series that CBS cancels.

The CBS Network Is Loaded Up NCIS Content

Still, while those Nielsen numbers could make it easy for any show to be renewed on other networks, these ratings aren’t overly impressive when it comes to the NCIS franchise and CBS.

The network is also fully loaded for the 2024-2025 season when it comes to NCIS shows, with the flagship series renewed, as well as NCIS: Sydney and a new prequel drama spinoff, NCIS: Origins, set to debut on CBS. The show will follow Leroy Jethro Gibbs during his earlier years. There’s also a series that will center around Tony and Ziva (and what they are up to now), set to hit Paramount+, very soon.

Can NCIS: Hawai’i Be Saved?

Anything is possible in the land of showbiz, and while NCIS: Hawai’i seems down and out right now, there’s nothing like the power of a fanbase’s voice. After all, for two consecutive seasons, S.W.A.T. was on the chopping block, and both times, CBS reversed its decision to cancel the series, renewing it and adding it back to their primetime lineup.

Then, there’s also a chance that another network or streaming service picks the show up for Season 4. Only time will tell.

For now, it looks like there are only a couple more shows of NCIS: Hawai’i until it becomes no more. CBS has announced that the show’s series finale will take place on Monday, May 6, at 10 P.M. (ET) and this coming Monday, April 29, the show will air a new episode, titled “Spill The Tea”.
