Sean Penn Was Ready to Make His Son Sleep on the Bus Bench
Famous actor Sean Penn could no longer bear seeing his son continue on the destructive path he had taken, so he gave him a choice.
Sean Penn is a household Hollywood name. The talented actor is famously known for starring in popular movies like "I Am Sam" and "Mystic River."
He has also directed many successful movies like "The Last Face" and "Flag Day." The actor has a whole list of nominations and awards in his repertoire, which include winning an Oscar.

SEAN PENN'S MARRIAGES
Sean Penn was married to superstar musician Madonna for four years. The couple was married from 1985 to 1989. Their marriage was reportedly very turbulent, which brought out the chaotic side of the actor.
Madonna sought psychiatric help just after their wedding because of the physical and emotional abuse at his hands. The actor allegedly hit her with a baseball bat across the head in June 1987, but she refused to press charges against him.

He climbed the walls of their Malibu home two years after that incident and told Madonna he owned her. He then reportedly physically abused her with a busted lip as one of the injuries she suffered.
Madonna told Penn that she was going to leave him. The actor then tried to tie her hands with an electric lamp cord, she ran into the bedroom screaming, but Penn caught her. He then proceeded to bind her to a chair.
It was at this point his father asked him to choose between going to a rehabilitation center or bus bench.

Penn then threatened to cut her hair. He also assaulted a photographer and had to spend 33 days in jail. Not long after this, he was served divorce papers by Madonna, but she later withdrew them.
She asked him for divorce again in 1989, and he was also charged with felony domestic abuse. Madonna dropped the charges, but Penn pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge. The couple went their separate ways afterward.
ROBIN WRIGHT
Wright and Penn met on the set of the movie "State Of Grace," and they immediately fell in love. Wright, at the time, was an upcoming actress after starring in the film "The Princess Bride."
On the other hand, Penn was already a veteran and had just left his sordid marriage to Madonna. Soon after meeting, they both moved in together. They began dating in 1989.
Wright gave birth to their first child, Dylan, in 1991 and their second, Harper, in 1993. She appeared as Jenny in the movie "Forrest Gump" in 1994 and "Crossing Guard" in 1995, which Penn directed.

Problems started happening in their relationship in 1995 after the shooting of the movie "Crossing Guard." Penn reportedly had a relationship with a singer called Jewel, asking her to do a song for the film.
He reconciled with Wright shortly after this, and they got married a year later in 1996. The couple also appeared together in the movie "She's so lovely."
Wright reportedly had to start turning down movie roles to stay at home and take care of the children. She rejected the role of Abby McDeere in "The Firm."

She also turned down appearing on the cover of the magazine "Vanity Fair" while also rejecting the role of Maid Marian from the movie "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves." These decisions affected her career as people stopped trying to hire her.
The couple agreed not to work simultaneously so one of them could stay home with the kids. At the time, Penn was earning more, which ultimately left Wright at home with the kids.
In 2007, Wright filed for divorce but retracted it four months later, and the couple reconciled. Trouble started again in April 2009 when Penn did not acknowledge his wife during his acceptance speech after winning an Oscar.
She had accompanied him to the award show and was sitting in the audience. Penn filed for divorce after this, but they reconciled, and it was retracted again. Finally, in August 2009, Wright filed the divorce papers and officially divorced almost a year later, on July 22, 2010.
SEAN PENN'S CHILDREN
His daughter Dylan Frances Penn was born on April 13, 1991. She has slowly been making a name for herself in Hollywood with appearances in movies like "Condemned" in 2015. She is reportedly also set to appear in the upcoming film "Tramp."
She has also starred in movies "Elvis and Nixon," "Aramingo Avenue," "Unregistered," and "Flag Day." Dylan is also a model, and she has already worked with big names like "GQ" and "Elle."

HOPPER'S DRUG PROBLEMS
Speaking to ES Magazine, the actor and model revealed that he started mixing with bad crowds after his parents divorced. He was just 14 years old when the split happened, and when his mother moved to Los Angeles, he followed her; by this time, he was 16 years old.
The actor declared he was angry at his parents after they split and reconciled, only to split up again some months later. He could not help but think if they were messing with him and his older sister Dylan.
After a month of moving to Los Angeles, the actor got injured in a skateboarding accident which required surgery, as he suffered from bleeding in the brain. It was after this incident he began living recklessly.
He admittedly was doing a lot of bad things starting with smoking pot before moving to take methamphetamine. Crystal methamphetamine was what landed him in the hospital.
At this point, his father asked him to choose between going to a rehabilitation center or bus bench. He added that going to rehab changed his life because that period was the worst time of his life as he was addicted to crystal methamphetamine.
WHERE ARE THEY NOW?
Robin Wright is currently married to Clement Giraudet, who is Saint Laurent's International VIP Relations Manager. They got married on August 10, 2018, in France.
Meanwhile, actor Penn has just gotten off the back of another divorce. He had married 29-year-old Australian actress Leila George during the lockdown in July 2020.

They had been dating for four years before he married her, but unfortunately, things did not go as planned as she filed for divorce in a Los Angeles Superior Court.
The actor was recently seen at the Cannes Film Festival with his children. He had directed and also starred in the movie "Flag Day" alongside his children.
